Fun Galore at the 2011 Kreative Kids Day

Saturday 9th April 2011 will be etched indelibly in over 4,500 children’s minds, courtesy of a fun-filled one day event at the Splash Water World. Dubbed the Kreative Kids Day, it was the third of an annual event that brings together children and their parents to have fun, learn and make discoveries. The overly enthusiastic children seize the opportunity to make real their varying levels of creativity and imagination.

The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation was among the key sponsors of this year’s event, with the Managing Director, Mrs. Nancy W. Karimi, MBS, as the Guest of Honour. The Master of Ceremonies was the celebrated Daniel Ndambuki aka Churchill of the Churchill Live fame.

Children within the age brackets of three to fourteen years are targeted. The main activities were poetry recitations, drawing, solving puzzles, reading and animations. Information on the JKF Scholarship Programme was also disseminated to the attendees, while those who wished to buy JKF books were given the opportunity. Every child got a free storybook published by The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation.

In her closing remarks, Mrs. Karimi extolled the virtues and importance of reading. Everybody left the venue with a radiant face after what was billed a very successful day. Children who won prizes in the various activities had a double reason to smile. They all looked forward to next year’s event.
