The Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education, Amb. (Dr.) Amina C. Mohamed, EGH, CAV on Wednesday 30th January, 2019 hailed The Jomo Kenyatta Foundation (JKF) for the role she has continued to play in providing scholarships to the bright and needy secondary school students in Kenya for the last fifty years as she officiated The JKF 2019 Scholarship Award Cheque presentation at the JKF Grounds in Industrial Area.

Speaking at the event in which scholarships totaling over 29 million shillings were awarded to 155 students, she reiterated the Government’s commitment to provision of quality education. The government targets to raise the national budget allocation to education to thirty percent while ensuring a 100% transition to secondary school.

Amb. (Dr.) Mohamed noted that her ministry has identified JKF as a strategic partner in the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQUIP). In that capacity, JKF is to act as the government agency that regulates, manages and coordinates philanthropic organizations providing scholarship and social support to students in basic education institutions.

Mr. Mohamed A. Jabane, MBS representing the Chairperson, JKF Board of Directors, stated that the organization is unwavering in fulfilling her mandates of publishing and offering scholarships to the bright and needy students. He called for support from the public by way of purchase of JKF products whence the money expended is obtained.

The JKF Managing Director, Mrs. Rosemary K. A. Barasa, OGW, expressed a commitment to continue publishing high quality books that meet the needs of users across the social spectrum. She urged the beneficiaries to maximize the opportunity the scholarship offered them to post impressive results and cultivate good character.
